How to Ride
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Buy Tickets & Ride
New to Bangkok trains? Follow these simple steps from ticket to seat.
Choose Your Ticket Type
Pick what fits your trip — single ride, stored-value card, or contactless pay.
Buy Your Ticket
Use a ticket machine or staffed counter. Machines take coins, notes, and often cards.
Beep & Go
Tap your card or token at the gate sensors and walk through when it opens.

Essential Etiquette & Culture on the Train
A little courtesy goes a long way — ride like a local and keep the journey pleasant for everyone. Offer priority seats to monks, elders, pregnant passengers, and children — always.
No Eating or Drinking
Food and drinks stay off the trains and platforms. Finish snacks before you pass the gates so carriages stay clean.
Queue Up Politely
Stand to the sides of the doors, let riders exit first, then board in turn. Orderly lines keep everyone moving.
It's Cool to Be Kind <3
Keep Your Voice Down
Chats stay soft so fellow passengers can enjoy a calm ride. Save the loud laughter for outside the train.
Backpack in Front
On crowded trains, wear your bag on your chest. You won’t bump others — and your belongings stay safer.
No Loud Phone Calls
Skip long or loud calls onboard. Step off at a station if you need to talk — or text instead.
Mind Personal Space
Keep bags and legs in your own seat area. One seat per person — don’t stretch into your neighbour’s space.
No Smelly or Banned Items
Durian, strong-smelling food, and dangerous items (like knives) are not allowed. When in doubt, leave it out.
